CV for Teaching Job in Pakistan: Format, Sample and Tips

October 6, 2026 · 10 min read

Every new school session, principals across Pakistan sit down with a pile of CVs for the same few teaching posts, and most of them look exactly alike: a degree, a list of words like "hardworking, punctual, dedicated," and almost nothing about what happens inside a classroom. The teacher who gets the call is usually not the one with the longest CV. It is the one whose CV shows, in half a page, what she can teach, to whom, and with what results.

This guide shows you how to make a CV for a teaching job in Pakistan that does exactly that. You will get the right format, the sections in order, before and after examples, tips for freshers with no experience, a lecturer section, and a teacher CV sample you can copy today.

What schools and colleges look for in a teacher CV

Whether it is a private school in Lahore, a college in Peshawar or an international school in Dubai, the people hiring teachers read your CV with the same few questions in mind:

  • What can you teach? Subjects, classes or grades, and the curriculum (Matric and Intermediate boards, Cambridge O and A Level, or others).
  • Are you qualified? Your degree in the subject, plus teaching qualifications such as B.Ed, M.Ed or ADE.
  • Can you manage a class? Class size, discipline, routines, and how you handle mixed abilities.
  • Do your students do well? Results, improvement, competitions, projects.
  • Will you fit the school? Communication in English and Urdu, work with parents, and co-curricular activities.

Answer these five questions in your first half page and you are ahead of most applicants.

Best CV format for a teaching job in Pakistan

Keep the layout plain and easy to scan: latest teaching role at the top, clear headings, and no tables, icons or skill bars. Simple CVs read best in online application systems and on a principal's phone. Our guide to the CV format in Pakistan covers the general rules; here is what changes for teachers.

Length: one page if you are a fresh teacher, two pages if you have several years of classroom experience. Academic CVs for lecturers can be longer because publications and research need space.

Word or PDF: send exactly what the job ad asks for. If it does not say, send a PDF, because it keeps your layout the same on every phone and laptop. Many school jobs in Pakistan are still applied for by email or WhatsApp, so keep a PDF copy on your phone, ready to send.

Photo: a simple, professional photo is common on teacher CVs in Pakistan and the Gulf, and some school ads ask for one. Add it when the ad asks or when it is normal for the schools you are targeting.

Teacher CV sections in order

  1. Name and contact details: full name, mobile number, a professional email and your city.
  2. Teaching profile: three lines on who you are as a teacher (examples below).
  3. Teaching experience: latest first, with school name, city, dates, classes taught and three to five strong points.
  4. Education and teaching qualifications: your degree in the subject, then B.Ed, M.Ed or ADE, with institution and year.
  5. Subjects and classes: one clear line, for example "Mathematics and Physics, Grades 6 to 10, Matric and O Level."
  6. Skills: lesson planning, classroom management, assessment, Google Classroom, MS Office, online teaching on Zoom.
  7. Training and workshops: teacher training sessions, subject workshops and short courses, with the organizer and year.
  8. Co-curricular activities: debates, sports, science fairs, annual functions or clubs you led.
  9. References: schools often like a principal or head of department as a referee. Give names only if the ad asks; otherwise say they can be shared when needed.

Teaching profile examples

These are illustrative examples, not real people. Change every detail to match your own background.

Experienced school teacher: "English teacher with six years of experience teaching Grades 6 to 10 at private schools in Rawalpindi, for both Matric and O Level. Skilled in lesson planning, reading programmes and exam preparation, and comfortable with Google Classroom for homework and online classes."

Fresh graduate: "B.Ed graduate with a BS in Mathematics and a twelve-week teaching practicum at a government girls' high school. Confident teaching Grades 6 to 8 with activity-based lessons. Looking for a Mathematics teacher role in Lahore."

How to write teaching experience that gets calls

"Taught English to classes 6 and 7" tells a principal what your job title already said. Show what changed because you were in that classroom. Here are three before and after examples (illustrative):

Example 1: subject teaching

  • Before: "Taught English to classes 6 and 7."
  • After: "Taught English to two Grade 6 and 7 sections of 35 students each and started a weekly reading hour; the final exam pass rate rose from 78% to 92% in one year."

Example 2: class management

  • Before: "Responsible for class discipline."
  • After: "Class teacher for 40 students; reduced late arrivals by setting up a morning routine and a parents' WhatsApp group for daily updates."

Example 3: co-curricular work

  • Before: "Organized school events."
  • After: "Led the annual science exhibition with 60 student projects and invited judges from a local college."

Good things to count: sections and students per class, pass rates, board results or positions, competition wins, events you ran, trainings you gave to other teachers, and parent meetings you handled. Use only numbers you can explain in an interview.

CV for a teaching job with no experience

No school job yet does not mean no teaching experience. Most fresh teachers in Pakistan have more than they realize:

  • Teaching practice: the practicum from your B.Ed or ADE. Name the school, the classes and what you taught.
  • Home tuition: for example, "Home tutor for Grade 8 to 10 Mathematics, 2023 to 2025, six students, all passed their Matric exams."
  • Academy teaching: evening or weekend classes at a coaching academy count as real teaching.
  • Volunteering: community schools, literacy programmes, summer camps or Quran and Nazra classes.
  • University roles: teaching assistant work, peer tutoring, or organizing events for a society.

Put Education and Teaching Practice near the top, and list the digital tools you can use in class. Real tuition results beat a page of general skills.

CV for a lecturer position (college and university)

A CV for a lecturer post works differently from a school teacher CV:

  • Education comes first: each degree with institution, year, CGPA or division, and your thesis title.
  • Check the eligibility line: most lecturer ads ask for a 16-year degree (a four-year BS or a Master's) in the subject, and universities often prefer an MPhil or PhD. Read the ad carefully and make sure your degrees are recognized by HEC.
  • Research section: publications in full citation style, conference papers and any funded projects.
  • Teaching section: the courses you taught, at which level (Intermediate, BS, Master's), and any labs you ran.
  • Public sector posts: commissions such as FPSC, PPSC and KPPSC take applications through their own online forms. Keep your CV consistent with every date and qualification you enter there.

Teaching jobs abroad: UAE and Saudi Arabia

Many Pakistani teachers apply to schools in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. A few things matter more there:

  • Curriculum experience: international schools hire by curriculum, so name it clearly (British, American, IB, or Cambridge O and A Level).
  • Subject focus: Gulf schools usually hire subject specialists, so lead with your main subject and the grades you teach.
  • Documents: keep your degrees and teaching qualifications ready for attestation, because many Gulf employers ask for attested documents during hiring.
  • Personal details: Gulf CVs normally show nationality, visa status and notice period near the top.

Our guide to an ATS-friendly CV for Gulf jobs explains how Gulf employers screen CVs and what to put in that top section.

A short cover letter for a teaching job

Many schools ask for a short letter with your CV. Keep it to three small paragraphs, like this illustrative example:

Dear Principal,

I would like to apply for the Science Teacher post for Grades 6 to 8 at your school. I hold a B.Ed and a BS in Chemistry, and I have taught General Science for three years using hands-on experiments that keep young students curious.

Last year my Grade 8 students prepared 20 projects for our school science fair, and two of them were selected for the district competition. I would love to bring the same energy to your science department.

Thank you for considering my application. I am available for a demo lesson at your convenience.

Regards,
