Cover Letter for Job in Pakistan: 3 Samples to Copy (2026)

September 14, 2026 · 10 min read

A weak cover letter repeats the CV word for word, opens with "I am writing to apply for the position of," and says nothing the recruiter does not already know. A letter like that adds little to your application.

But a good one is different. A strong cover letter for a job application is the one place you get to sound like a person instead of a document, connect your experience to this exact job, and give the recruiter a reason to call you first. Below you will find the format, three samples you can adapt, and how to send it by email.

Short on time? Cvalto writes a tailored cover letter for any job you paste in, built from your real experience and matched to the role. You get a strong first draft in seconds and just polish it.

What is a cover letter, and how is it different from your CV?

A cover letter is a short letter, usually half a page, that you send with your CV when you apply for a job. It explains why you want this particular role and why you are a good fit for it.

The difference is simple:

  • Your CV is a record of your whole career: jobs, education, skills. It stays mostly the same for every application.
  • Your cover letter is a pitch for one job. It picks your one or two most relevant strengths and links them to what this employer needs. It changes every time.

So no, a CV is not a cover letter, and you cannot use one in place of the other. The CV proves you can do the work. The cover letter makes the recruiter want to meet you.

Do you need a cover letter for jobs in Pakistan?

Not always, but more often than people think. Send one when:

  • The job ad or application form asks for it, or has a field for it.
  • You are applying by email, where the email itself works as your cover letter.
  • You are applying on Rozee, Mustakbil, LinkedIn or a Gulf portal and there is space for a message to the employer.
  • You are a fresh graduate or changing careers, and your CV needs a little context.

When in doubt, send a short one. A recruiter can skip a good cover letter in ten seconds, but a missing one can make you look like you applied everywhere without caring where.

Cover letter format for a job application

Forget the long formal letters from old templates. A modern cover letter fits on half a page and has four short paragraphs, plus a greeting and a sign-off.

  1. Greeting. Use the person's name if the ad gives it ("Dear Ms Khan"). If not, "Dear Hiring Manager" is better than "Respected Sir," which assumes the reader is a man.
  2. Opening (2 lines). Name the role and say, with some energy, why you are a strong fit. Skip "I am writing to apply."
  3. Proof (3 to 4 lines). Your single most relevant achievement, with a number if you honestly have one. This is where you show instead of tell.
  4. Fit (2 to 3 lines). Why this company and this role. One specific detail about them shows you actually read the ad.
  5. Close (1 to 2 lines). Ask for the next step and say thank you.
  6. Sign-off. "Kind regards," then your name, phone number and email.

Keep it between 200 and 300 words, use the same font as your CV, and save it as a PDF if you attach it.

Sample cover letter for a job application (experienced)

This is an example for a marketing professional. Swap in your own role, company and results.

Subject: Application for Marketing Coordinator | [Your Name]

Dear Hiring Manager,

I was excited to see your opening for a Marketing Coordinator, because growing brands in the local market is exactly what I have spent the last four years doing, and I would love to bring that to your team.

In my current role at a consumer goods company, I run campaigns across North Punjab and have hit 95 to 105 percent of monthly sales targets for six quarters in a row. I also grew our Instagram audience from 4,000 to 13,000 followers in five months, which fed directly into in-store visits.

Your focus on expanding into new cities is what draws me to this role. That kind of on-ground, results-first marketing is the work I enjoy most, and I am confident I can help you repeat it in new markets.

I would welcome the chance to discuss how I can help. Thank you for your time.

Kind regards,

[Your Name] | [Phone] | [Email]

Notice what it does: it leads with energy, proves the claim with real numbers, says something specific about the company, and never repeats the CV line by line.

Cover letter for a fresh graduate with no experience

No job experience does not mean nothing to say. Use your degree project, internship, part-time work, volunteering or a skill you taught yourself.

Subject: Application for Trainee Software Engineer | [Your Name]

Dear Hiring Manager,

I recently completed my BS in Computer Science and I am applying for your Trainee Software Engineer role because I want to start my career building real products with a team that ships fast.

For my final year project, I built a web app with React and Node.js that lets students book lab slots online. Our department used it during the spring semester, and fixing the bugs real users reported taught me more than any course. I also completed a six-week internship where I wrote API tests and documentation.

Your work on fintech apps for Pakistani users is exactly the kind of product I want to learn on, and I am ready to put in the effort to become useful quickly.

I would be grateful for the chance to interview. Thank you for considering my application.

Kind regards,

[Your Name] | [Phone] | [Email]

Two lines of real project detail are worth more than a paragraph of "hardworking, motivated and passionate."

Short sample cover letter for a bank job

Banks receive a huge number of applications, so short and precise works best. This sample suits a fresh graduate or someone with a year or two of experience.

Subject: Application for Cash and Customer Services Officer | [Your Name]

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am applying for the Cash and Customer Services Officer position at your bank. I hold a BBA in Banking and Finance, and during my eight-week internship at a commercial bank branch I handled customer queries, account opening documents and cash counting under supervision.

I am careful with numbers, calm with customers, and comfortable with MS Excel and core banking screens. I would welcome the chance to bring that accuracy and service to your branch team.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Kind regards,

[Your Name] | [Phone] | [Email]

How to send your cover letter by email

Many jobs in Pakistan are still applied for by email. Here is how to do it properly.

  • Subject line: "Application for [Job Title] | [Your Name]". If the ad gives a reference number, add it.
  • Cover letter in the email body or attached? If the ad asks for an attached cover letter, attach it as a PDF. Otherwise, write a shorter version (three short paragraphs) directly in the email body. That is what the recruiter reads first.
  • Attach your CV as a PDF with a clear file name, like "Ayesha-Khan-CV.pdf".
  • Use a professional email address with your name in it, and check the spelling of the company and the person's name twice.

The mistakes that get cover letters ignored

  • Copying your CV into paragraphs. It has to add something new, not repeat what is already attached.
  • Making it all about you. Employers care what you can do for them. Frame every line that way.
  • One letter for every job. The company name, the role and the achievement you lead with must change each time.
  • Writing a full page. Half a page is enough. Long letters do not get read.
  • Copy-pasting an online template without editing it. Recruiters see the same templates every day and recognise them instantly.

Frequently asked questions

What is a cover letter for a CV?

It is a short letter you send along with your CV when applying for a job. It introduces you, explains why you want that specific role, and highlights one or two strengths that make you a good fit.

Can I use my CV as a cover letter?

No. Your CV lists your whole background, while a cover letter is a short, personal pitch for one job. Send both when you can, and make sure the cover letter adds something the CV does not.

Can AI write my cover letter?

AI can give you a quick first draft, but generic AI letters often sound the same and can add claims that are not true. Always check every line is accurate and specific to the job. Cvalto writes the letter from your own CV and the job you paste in, then you polish it.

How long should a cover letter be?

Around 200 to 300 words, or half a page. Four short paragraphs are enough for almost every job.

Should I put my cover letter in the email or attach it?

If the job ad asks for an attachment, attach it as a PDF. If not, put a short version in the email body and attach your CV. Some people do both, which is also fine.

A cover letter is your foot in the door

Your CV proves you can do the job. Your cover letter makes them want to meet the person who can. Keep it short, lead with a real result, say something true about the company, and never send the same one twice.

Before you send it, make sure the CV behind it is just as strong. Follow our guide to the CV format in Pakistan, and if you are applying abroad, read ATS-Friendly CV for Gulf Jobs.
