CV Format for Dubai & UAE Jobs: Sample for Pakistanis (2026)

October 26, 2026 · 12 min read

Between January and September 2026, 52,032 Pakistanis registered with the Bureau of Emigration to work in the UAE. In the whole of 2025, the number was 52,664. Nine months, and the count is already close to a full year.

If you are about to join them, the CV you send for jobs in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah (many people call it a resume for Dubai jobs) needs a few changes from the one you use in Pakistan. This guide walks you through the CV format for Dubai jobs and the rest of the UAE: what to add, what to drop, how to write your visa status, which documents HR asks for after the offer, and a full UAE CV sample you can follow.

Want a UAE format CV without starting from a blank page? The Cvalto CV maker builds one from a simple paragraph about your work. Choose UAE as your target market, add your nationality and visa status, and preview it for free.

What is the CV format for Dubai and UAE jobs?

The UAE CV format is simple and fairly standard across employers. Bayt, the Middle East job site, describes it in its 2026 UAE CV guide as a clean, reverse-chronological CV of one to two pages that opens with your personal details and a short professional summary. Bayt also notes that format expectations are consistent whether you apply in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah, so you do not need a separate CV for each emirate.

In short, a UAE CV in 2026 looks like this:

  • Length: one page for fresh graduates, up to two pages if you have relevant experience (Bayt and VisualCV both give the one to two page range).
  • Order: your latest job first, then older roles.
  • Top section: name, contact details, nationality and visa status.
  • Language: English. VisualCV calls English essential for most roles and Arabic an advantage for some.
  • Style: a single, clean layout without heavy design, unusual fonts or dark backgrounds.

UAE employers also use applicant tracking systems (ATS) that scan CVs for words from the job ad, which Bayt mentions in the same guide. That is why the words in your CV should match the job you apply for. Our guide on ATS-friendly CVs for Gulf jobs explains how that screening works.

Pakistani CV vs UAE CV: what to change

A CV made for jobs in Pakistan often carries details meant for local employers and government forms. For a UAE job, a few details move in and a few move out:

  • CNIC number: leave it out. Your ID is collected later for the work permit.
  • Father's name and domicile: usually not needed on a UAE CV.
  • Full home address: write city and country only.
  • Career objective: replace it with a two to four line professional summary.
  • List of duties: turn them into results, with numbers where you have them.
  • Phone number: add the country code, for example +92 300 1234567.
  • Reference names and numbers: write "References available on request".
  • Religion: leave it out.

Why these changes? Bayt's UAE guide lists what belongs in the personal details section, and CNIC, father's name and domicile are not on that list. VisualCV advises against adding religion, passport numbers or a full home address on Gulf CVs. Bayt also suggests city level location only and says "available upon request" is enough for references.

If you still use a career objective at the top, replace it with a summary. Bayt warns against generic objectives with no specifics. Our career objective guide explains when an objective still makes sense, such as for fresh graduates.

Personal details on a UAE CV

This section sits at the very top of your CV, so keep it clean and complete. Based on Bayt's UAE checklist, include:

  • Full name and the job title you are targeting
  • Phone number with country code (+92 if you are in Pakistan, +971 if you are in the UAE)
  • A professional email address
  • Location: city and country, for example "Lahore, Pakistan" or "Dubai, UAE"
  • Nationality: Pakistani
  • Visa status (see the next section)
  • Date of birth: optional, but Bayt calls it common on UAE CVs
  • LinkedIn profile, if it is up to date

It also helps to add when you can join, for example "Available to join within 30 days", because it answers a practical question before it is asked. If the role involves driving, write which driving licence you hold, and do not claim a UAE licence unless you actually have one.

How to write your visa status on a UAE CV

Visa status is a line you probably never needed on a CV in Pakistan. Bayt lists it as a standard part of a UAE CV and gives three common situations: UAE resident, visit visa, or overseas applicant. VisualCV recommends keeping it short.

Use one of these, based on your real situation:

  • Applying from Pakistan: "Visa status: Overseas applicant, currently in Pakistan. Available to join within 30 days."
  • On a visit visa in the UAE: "Visa status: Visit visa, valid until 15 January 2027."
  • On a UAE job seeker visa: "Visa status: UAE job seeker visa, valid until 20 February 2027."
  • Already working in the UAE: "Visa status: UAE residence visa (employment)."

A quick word on the job seeker visa. According to Gulf News (updated September 2026), the UAE offers a job seeker visa of 60, 90 or 120 days without a local sponsor. Applicants generally need at least a bachelor's degree or equivalent for a job in MOHRE skill levels 1 to 3, or must be a recent graduate of one of the world's top 500 universities, and may need to show enough funds. Applications go through the ICP or GDRFA Dubai.

One rule matters more than any format tip: never write a visa you do not hold. Your passport and visa details are checked during the work permit process.

Should you add a photo to a Dubai CV?

This is where advice differs, so here is what each source says. Bayt's 2026 guide says a professional headshot is "expected rather than optional" on UAE CVs. VisualCV says photos are common on Gulf CVs but expectations vary by role, and suggests a photo for customer-facing or local roles and leaving it out for some multinational or technical roles.

A practical way to decide:

  • Customer-facing roles (sales, hospitality, retail, front desk, aviation): add a photo.
  • Technical or multinational roles (engineering, IT, finance in global firms): a photo is optional. Follow the job ad if it says anything.
  • If you add one: use a recent, clear headshot with a plain, light background and professional clothing. No selfies, no group photos.

The Cvalto CV maker lets you include an optional photo on UAE, Saudi and Qatar CVs, so you can create both versions and choose per job.

UAE CV format: sections in order

Here is the order that works for a CV for UAE jobs, based on Bayt's section guide:

  1. Personal details: as listed above, at the top.
  2. Professional summary: two to four sentences on who you are, your years of experience, your main skills and the role you want.
  3. Work experience: job title, company name, city and country, and month and year for start and end. Add three to five bullet points per role, with numbers wherever you have them, such as team size, targets, accounts or results.
  4. Skills: a short list that uses the same words as the job ad. If the ad says "SAP" or "Excel", write exactly that.
  5. Education: highest qualification first, with university, country and graduation year.
  6. Certifications and training: courses and certificates relevant to the job.
  7. Languages: each language with your level. Bayt mentions Urdu among the languages in demand across sectors in the UAE, so write it down with English and any Arabic.

Dubai CV format for freshers

If you graduated recently, keep it to one page. Put education higher, right after the summary, and add internships, final year projects and part-time work with what you actually did. Bayt notes that recent graduates can add their GPA if it is strong. Once you have a degree and some work experience, you can drop Matric and Intermediate to save space. Freshers can keep them if the marks are strong.

What UAE HR asks for after the offer

Your CV gets you the interview, but the offer becomes real only when the employer gets your work permit approved. Gulf News reported in April 2025 on the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) requirements for workers coming from outside the UAE. Only employers can apply for the permit, and the documents include:

  • A valid passport with at least six months of validity
  • A clear colour photo with a white background
  • The job offer, signed by both the employer and the worker
  • For skilled and technical roles, an educational certificate authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: a university degree for skill levels 1 and 2, a diploma or higher for levels 3 and 4, and a high school certificate for level 5
  • A professional licence, if the job needs one
  • A national ID for workers from Pakistan, along with some other nationalities

The same report notes that a worker earning less than AED 4,000 a month is not counted as skilled, even with a certificate.

What this means for your CV: write your degree title, university and year exactly as they appear on your certificate. If your CV says one thing and your attested degree says another, HR will ask about it.

Degree attestation for UAE jobs from Pakistan

Attestation takes time, so start it early. Based on the MOFA Pakistan procedure and Gulf News guidance on UAE attestation, the usual route is:

  1. HEC attests university degrees. For Matric and Intermediate certificates, the IBCC does this step.
  2. MOFA Pakistan (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) attests the document after HEC or IBCC.
  3. The UAE Embassy or Consulate in Pakistan approves the document.
  4. UAE MOFA gives the final attestation in the UAE. Gulf News lists a fee of AED 150 plus courier charges, with processing of up to three working days.

Once your degree is attested, you can mention it in your education section, for example "BBA, University of the Punjab, 2019 (HEC and MOFA attested)". It is a small line, but it tells the employer your paperwork is moving.

Where to apply for UAE jobs from Pakistan, safely

For private sector jobs, the main places to search are Bayt, GulfTalent, Naukrigulf and LinkedIn. Upload the same UAE format CV for Dubai jobs on each site and keep your profile details consistent.

Before you accept any offer, protect yourself:

  • Know the two legal routes. The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE) says Pakistanis go abroad either through a licensed Overseas Employment Promoter (OEP) or on a direct employment visa, and every emigrant is registered with the Protector of Emigrants.
  • Check the agent's licence. BEOE publishes a list of licensed OEPs on its website, and it also posts licence cancellations and show cause notices against promoters. Look the agent up before you pay anything.
  • Read the official UAE guide. BEOE's website hosts "Travel Smart, Work Smart", a guide for Pakistani workers in the UAE published by the International Labour Organization, in both Urdu and English.
  • Be careful with money first, job later. It is safer to deal only with employers and agents who show a real, signed job offer.
